Refried Beans - Dried Beans Bulk Recipe
11½ Tbsp. or 4 ½ oz. El Cid Mexican Bean Seasoning
7 gallons of water
5 lbs. beans: pinto or black
3 lbs. shredded Monterey Jack or Cheddar cheese
Place beans in large bowl with 3 gallons of water and let stand 2-4 hours. Drain and rinse beans thoroughly. In large pot with lid, combine beans, seasoning and 4 gallons of water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and cook 3-5 hours, adding water as needed. Stir occasionally. Cook until beans are tender and tasty.
Refried Beans Preparation: After beans are fully cooked, mash the beans in their liquid with a fork or potato masher. In a large sauce pan, add mashed beans and liquid. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the liquid evaporates and the beans pull away from the bottom and sides of the pan, about 15 minutes. Top with cheese. |
